📅 September 7

⏰ Sailors arrive at 5:30pm; first heat launches at 6pm

Please note: the pool will close for general swim at 6pm so the regatta can begin safely.

What’s a Cardboard Boat Regatta? Teams design and build their own boats using only cardboard and duct tape, then race them across the pool! It’s a test of creativity, engineering… and the ability to stay afloat.

Official Rules

• Boats must be constructed prior to the race and made only of cardboard and duct tape.
• Creativity and costumes encouraged — BUT NO glitter and NO spray paint. (Both are extremely difficult to remove and can damage the pump house and filters.)
• Boats that begin to disintegrate and leave debris will be remove from the pool immediately and may be disqualified.
• Paddles may be made from additional materials or be store?bought.
• Max 2 people per boat during the race.
• All boats must be taken home or placed inside an official DeKalb County trash cart at the curb. (Loose piles of trash will not be collected.)
